Free split bill calculator
Enter the bill total, choose a tip and add the number of people. The calculator rounds every share so the total still adds up to the last cent.

How to split a bill evenly
Add the tip to the bill total, then divide by the number of people. A $120 dinner with a 15% tip comes to $138, so four people pay $34.50 each.
When the total does not divide exactly, someone has to pay one cent more. The calculator spreads those cents across the group so the shares always add back up to the bill.
How to split a bill by income
Add up everyone's income, then work out each person's percentage of that total. If one partner earns 5,000 a month and the other earns 3,000, the first pays 62.5% of shared bills and the second pays 37.5%.
On a 2,000 rent that is 1,250 and 750. Both people put in the same proportion of what they earn, which many couples and roommates find fairer than a 50/50 split.
When one bill turns into twenty
A calculator is perfect for a single bill. A trip, a shared flat or a month of groceries is different: people pay for different things, some skip a dinner, and a few transfers happen along the way.
That is what the Half Tab app is for. It records every expense, keeps each person's balance up to date and works out the fewest payments to settle everything.
Split bill calculator questions
How do I split a bill between 4 people?
Add the tip to the total and divide by four. For a $90 bill with an 18% tip, the total is $106.20 and each person pays $26.55.
Should the tip be split evenly too?
Usually, yes. Most groups add the tip to the bill and split the whole amount. If one person ordered much more, split the bill by exact amounts and give each person a share of the tip in proportion to their order.
How do I split bills based on income?
Switch the calculator to Split by income and enter each person's monthly income. Everyone pays the same percentage of what they earn.
Is this bill splitter free?
Yes. The calculator runs in your browser, needs no sign up and does not store what you type.
